Living Green at Home
There are many ways to help stop global warming, save money and give back to Mother Earth from your own home. Here are some examples:
- Use compact fluorescent light bulbs.You'll save 300 lbs. of CO2 and $60/yr.
- Adjust your thermostat. Move it down two degrees in winter, and up two degrees in summer. You'll save 2,000 lbs. of CO2 and $98/yr.
- Install a low-flow shower head. Cuts down energy to heat the water, saving 350 lbs. of CO2 and $150/yr.
- Unplug unused electronics. This includes computers. They still use energy while turned off. Saves 1,000s of pounds of C02 and $256/yr.
- Cut back or stop meat consumption.Reducing meat from your diet at least two days a week will help decrease large amounts of CO2, methane and nitrous oxide gases.
- Recycle paper, plastic, tin and glass. Cuts down on garbage, landfills, 100s of lbs. of nitrous oxide, and 1,000s of lbs. of CO2/yr.
